Smokey — Cross-Platform Desktop Pet
Creator · Personal project
Smokey is a desktop companion implemented twice over: Swift and AppKit on macOS, C# and WPF on Windows. Both builds share the same proportions, palette, personality and behaviour rather than one being a port with reduced features.
He walks, pauses, naps, blinks and swishes his tail; notices the pointer and looks toward it; climbs the screen edges and crosses the top; finds visible application windows, climbs their borders and walks across them; and can be picked up, dragged and dropped. Transparent window regions stay click-through so ordinary work is never blocked.
The macOS build adds a system watchdog that warns about low battery, pinned CPU, a filling disk and network drops by reading IOKit, mach host statistics, volume capacity and NWPathMonitor, with cooldowns so warnings cannot spam. It also carries a focus timer and stretch nudges.
All artwork is procedural vector drawing — no image assets. Runs fully offline: no account, API, network connection, telemetry or tokens.
